挠性万向节主要由橡胶弹性元件（橡胶盘、橡胶块、橡胶环、橡胶金属套筒等）、衬套、螺栓和为了保证高速时的动平衡设置的定心装置等组成。其工作原理是当转矩作用在输入轴上时，转矩经输入轴、万向节叉上的三个凸缘和连接螺栓后，再传至橡胶块，转矩经过橡胶块又作用在输出轴上的万向节义凸缘。因橡胶块有弹性，允许两轴之间有一定的夹角。
